The four-year veteran was injured in Thursday night’s preseason opener against the New York Giants, a 13-10 Detroit victory. A torn Achilles’ tendon typically requires up to a year of rehabilitation after surgery.

Florida charges against Lions’ Pearson dropped (AP)
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008Domestic violence charges against Detroit Lions safety Kalvin Pearson have been dropped, the Hillsborough County state attorney’s office said Monday. Pearson, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2005-07, was arrested April 26 and charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman and domestic battery by strangulation, both felonies.
